Introduction
Driven by the booming new-energy vehicle industry, battery systems are putting higher priority on safety, reliability and integration. Against stricter new national standards, the Battery Disconnect Unit (BDU) -a core component of battery management systems-is evolving toward high-level integration.
To meet new-standard requirements and lower system complexity, leading solutions deploy innovative circuit-protection technologies such as Breaktor. Traditional components including fuses, connectors and contactors are consolidated into one unit, substantially reducing part quantity and assembly complexity.

When paired with intelligent battery management systems, the BDU performs real-time precision monitoring of current, voltage, temperature and insulation status, enabling quick response and proactive prevention against early-stage thermal runaway. This technical shift demands upgraded BDU manufacturing processes and production-line automation.
UW Fully-Automatic BDU Assembly Line
Developed in-house by UW Laser, the battery BDU assembly line is a highly-automated assembly solution built for this high-integration trend. Adopting modular design and independent control technology, the production line covers full-process workflows: electrical component assembly, busbar laser cleaning, busbar welding, post-weld cleaning, BDU dispensing, screw tightening, nickel sheet welding, BMS hot riveting, AOI inspection and EOL testing. It delivers a one-stop complete solution from individual components to finished BDU products.

Capable of lap welding, stack welding, and connections for busbars and nickel sheets of various specifications, the production line adopts standardized interfaces and flexible workstation design to meet assembly requirements of diverse product models, delivering a stable and reliable hardware foundation for mass production of battery BDU.
Core Equipment Advantages
Backed by multiple in-house-developed technologies and innovative designs, UW Laser’s battery BDU assembly line delivers outstanding performance in automation, precision, efficiency and quality control:
High-Automation Modular Architecture
Featuring modular design, each process unit is independently controllable. Standardized interfaces minimize manual intervention, improve assembly consistency and support high-volume mass production.
High-Efficient Production Cycle
Optimized for high-throughput manufacturing, the line achieves a production cycle of 80 seconds per piece.
Full-Closed-Loop Welding Quality Monitoring
To address invisible welding processes and difficult quality control, the line is equipped with the self-developed RWD real-time weld penetration monitoring system for in-line penetration detection, fundamentally eliminating cold solder risks.
Multi-Dimensional Intelligent Closed-Loop Control
The welding station integrates high-precision servo drives, CCD vision, laser ranging and pressure sensors. It enables multi-dimensional intelligent closed-loop control over welding parameters, automatically compensating for working condition variations to guarantee consistency and reliability for every weld seam.
High Adaptability & Efficiency
The busbar welding station supports butt welding and lap welding for busbars ranging 0.3-5mm thick. The nickel-sheet welding station adopts coaxial vision and floating nozzle technology, realizing high-speed welding at 2.5 seconds per spot.
End-to-End Quality Assurance
Combining real-time in-weld monitoring and post-weld CCD (AOI) inspection, the system secures welding precision and uniformity. With intelligent "controllable, measurable and traceable" functions, it provides solid support for high-volume, high-quality BDU mass production.
